Pianotarium is a music project consisting of primarily Piano and Percussion featuring Scott D. Davis and Bryan Gallinger. Pianotarium began with renditions of popular rock/hard rock/heavy metal songs done by Scott D. Davis on solo Piano in the albums Rockfluence and Pianotarium. In January of 2010, Bryan joined the project adding powerful and unique percussion elements to some of the existing songs. Simultaneously they will be doing more renditions of other hard rock/metal songs in addition to writing original songs. Pianotarium was invited to perform at 2010’s NAMM conference. It is an honorable benefit show for Deftone’s bass player Chi who has been in a coma for over a year after his horrible car accident back in November, 2008. In spring of 2010, Scott and Bryan will record and release new albums featuring the added percussion. Soon after they will embark on a North American tour debuting this material live. As they tour, Grassroots Network will be producing simultaneous networking events in major city areas to build a web community to follow music and travel enthusiasts. As the project progresses the goal is to incorporate guest musicians on periodic songs featuring Cello, Vocals, Guitar and potentially more down the road! The next stages of Pianotarium will involve writing original music with goals of releasing material in 2011. This entire project will be well documented with video, blogging and streaming web footage.

Background:

Scott and Bryan attended Rogers High School together from 1991-1993 where they met in HS Orchestra/Band class instructed by Greg Goss. In 1992, Bryan joined Scott's rock band titled Ascention where he replaced their original drummer. Scott and Bryan instantly had a strong musical connection but unfortunately that group did not stay together. A decade later they rekindled the friendship over MySpace. Bryan learned that Scott had built a successful solo piano career for himself as Scott D. Davis. They talked about elaborate ideas of one day making music together again and possibly building a full theatrical metal band with similar sounds as Queensryche, Symphony X, Nightwish, Metallica, etc. Scott had been living in Sacramento, CA and Bryan had stayed in WA state still pursuing music with various hard rock groups such as IDLEMINE. In 2007, Bryan relocated to San Diego, CA and had Scott come down to play some shows over the next couple of years. In 2009 they decided that it was time to stop talking and start adding drums to the piano music. In November, 2009 Bryan got his drums out of storage and they started rehearsing. They played their first show in front of a small group and tested a performance in front of a few hundred people at the local Shout House dualing piano bar in downtown Gaslamp district of San Diego early december, 2009! The name Pianotarium came from a tribute to Metallica that Scott did as a solo album in Piano with renditions of different Metallica songs. They decided to stay with that name because they love the ring to it and power it has due to their love and passion for metal music. Part of their vision for making this music is to prove that Metal as a style of music is truly beautiful with amazing melodies and dynamics despite how much it is stereotyped as noise hidden by dark tones, distorted sounds and often growling/screaming vocals. In January of 2010 Bryan will add drums to portions of these existing songs, and then Scott and Bryan plan to release more music together and record new albums. In spring of 2010, Scott and Bryan will embark on a North American tour debuting this material live for the first time. Pianotarium is self-managed, produced and promoted by Grassroots Network.
